Maple cheesecake with roasted pears

Made by Eva Eržen

- 2 pears
- 12 graham crakers
-  5 spoons sladkorja
-  3/4 cup maple syrup
-  5 spoons softened butter
-  1 cup heavy cream
-  100 g cream cheese
-  250g cottage cheese


Preheat oven to 180 degrees. In a food processor, pulse cookies until finely ground, add 2 spoons sugar, salt, and butter and pulse until combined.
Firmly press crumb mixture into bottom and up sides of a 9-inch pie plate. Bake until crust is dry and set, about 12 minutes.
In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese about 3 minutes. Add 1/2 cup maple syrup; beat until smooth. In a medium bowl, beat cream and sugar on high until soft peaks form, about 3 minutes. With a rubber spatula, stir about one-third the whipped cream into cream cheese mixture, then fold in remainder. Transfer to crust and refrigerate until firm, 3 hours (or up to 1 day).
Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Arrange pear slices in a single layer on sheet and brush with 2 tablespoons maple syrup. Roast until pears are soft, 20 minutes. Remove from oven and heat broiler. Brush pears with 2 tablespoons maple syrup and broil until browned in spots, about 4 minutes, rotating sheet frequently. Let cool. To serve, arrange pear slices, overlapping slightly, on cheesecake.

Pot pie with mushrooms and spinach

 Pot-pies are the simplest and the most deliscious side dish, that you can ever make. You need spinach, mushromms of yur choice, mozzarella, onion, zuchinni, cream cheese and dough. Firstly you just need to throw every ingredient, except the cheeses and the dough, on the pan until they are all well cooked. Add in one spoon of cream cheese and mozzarella. take four dishes (similar to the ones you see on the pictures) and form little pots with the dough. To avoid sticking, firstly butter the dishes. Evenly distribute the filling and cover the pots with prepared circles for the pie. You are done!

I didn't give the specific amounts of each ingredient, because I didn't follow any recipe and just used what I had in the fridge. I made four pot-pies, with what I had.

Cookie monster

You Will Need:
200g butter
300g caster sugar
1 large egg
275g self-raising flour
75g cocoa powder
A little dash of milk 
A large bar of white
Mint chocolate
Marzipan chocolate
Set your oven to 200 degrees celsius. Then whizz together your butter and sugar until it's a smooth consistency  Next you need to crack in your egg. Then just put in all your dry ingredients and blend together. If your mixture is too dry, add a tiny bit of milk.  And don't forget the chocolate! It gives the cookies a better and sweeter taste. For five cookies I used the mint chocolate and for the other five I used the marzipan chocolate. I am a sucker for everything mint or marzipan. Once you've mixed the chocolate in, line 2 trays with baking paper or foil and then prepare to get messy! Use your hands to separate the mixture into 10 big chunks. Now pop your trays in the oven for 11 minutes. When you get them out they Will be still soft and look half baked. It is important to take them out of the oven. Once you let them cool they will stiffen and the chocolate in them will still be melted.

Soooo Lush!

Been to Lush, found some cool stuff. I really enjoy looking at new products, especcially the ones that are more organic and as cute as Lush. Tea tree water is meant for acne, so you can use it on the days when your face needs a little bit more attention. Massage heart smells delicious and you can massage yourself or someone else with it. I bougth a breathe of fresh air face tonic for times when my skin is in need of a pick me up. The last thing on my monochrome platte is a bath bomb made out of cocoa butter. Yummmyyy! I just had to get me some lush Lush!

Planter's hand creme

This month I got to know another beauty product. This time a moisturizing hand creme from Planter's. I already reviewed one of their products before, and it was also a hand cream, so I had something to compare it with. Even though I don`t have overly dry skin (this crème is meant to treat very dry and damaged skin), I was very excited to get my hands on it. It is more thick and textured then the other Planter`s product. It takes more time to blend and absorb into the skin, but it leaves it nourished and what`s most important moist! The only bad thing that I have to say about it is the smell. the main ingredient is again aloe vera, but this time it doesn´t smell as good as the other on does. Don´t get me wrong it is not irritating or anything, it is just more creamy. but some of you may prefer that.

Raspberry Trifle

Trifle can be made in one large dish or several small dishes.

- 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup seedless raspberry jam
- 4 cups raspberries
- 2 cups heavy ceam
- 1 1/2 pouns favourite pound cake ( I made it from: 1/2 cup whole milk, 2 tablespoons butter, 3/4 cup all purpose flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 large eggs, 3/4 granulated sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract)

In a small saucepan bring 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup wate and lemon juice to a boil, stirring all the time. 1 to 2 minutes. Let cool. In another bowl combine jam with 3 cup raspberries, mashing hem slightly. in a larger bowl whip cream and 2 tablespoons sugar to stiff peaks. Slice the pound cake you made before into three similarly thick circles, brush them with the lemon juice. Fit te first circle in the bottom of the dish. gently spread top of layer with 1/3 of raspberry mixture, and then 1/3 of whipped cream. Repeat to make two more layers; decorate with remainig cup of raspberries. Refrigirate until ready to serve, up to 24 hours.

Ikea day!

Ikea days are my favourite. My sister and I moved to a new flat and needed some things to decorate and "pimp" our rooms. We found some great stuff. Everytime we go to Ikea we end up eating their hot dogs, it has become like a little tradition that we have. Plus they had so many cool baking related stuff, i can't wait to go there again.

 This year I decided to do something different with the pumpkin. One day before Halloween is the perfect time to get myself into the "crafty" mode and release my stress while cutting/stabbing the holes. I used Christmas lights for this diy and it looks awesome. Lip butters and macaroons!

Today I decided to showcase the new Lip butters from Nivea in the flavour raspberry/rose and macadamia/vanilla. They are very handy to carry around in your purse and also very nourishing for you lips. They are now my go-to product when it comes to my lip care and are so light and always in my pocket. I had a little spare time so I decided to make macaroons again, this time in the exact same flavour as the lip butters. So here are the macadamia/vanilla and raspberry/rose macaroons.

Combine 80g of macadamia flour with 70g of sugar and vanilla sugar. In another bowl combine 3 egg whites and 60g powdered sugar until creamy. mix both mixtures together and your dough is ready. transfer it onto the macaroon baking sheet and let dry for an hour. In the meantime prepare the cream! I just made it out of cream and melted chocolate and added macadamia nuts (crushed). After your dough is well settled preheat the oven on 140 degrees and bake them for 20 min. just add the cream and you macaroons are finished.


The same recipe as written above, except add to the dough (three raspberry for colour, rose syrup and rose leaves for decoration, and except macadamia flour use almond flour). For cream I used 2 cups raspberry, 1 egg white, 100g butter, half a cup of powdered sugar, I mixed the ingredients together and that was all.

The past weekend was really interesting and fun, cause I was selling my stuff on a garage sale/bazaar in Ljubljana. It was the first event organized by Dnevni kich Slovenija and we didn't know how it will turn out. All in all it was successful and we all had spent a wonderful day in a beautiful place called "Festivalna dvorana" Those are just some pics that I took, while selling my beats and bobbs.
